Who doesn’t love the Gruffalo?!
Well I have a slight confession, I hadn’t read the book until about 6 months ago! Yes I know, it’s one of the most well-known children’s books around, and although I have heard of it, I never knew the story line! However, once I read the book, I must say I feel that I have been missing out for years. It was fab! And even though I am slight (ok maybe a little bit more than slightly!) older than its target audience, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it.
So today I bring you a blog about The Gruffalo Children’s Trail. There are lots of different trails taking place all over the country but the one closest to us is at Alice Holt Forest which is just south of Farnham. The trail allows children to explore the forest on a self-led adventure with 10 stops along the way. Each stop along the route has an activity which relates to a character in the book, such as making your own Gruffalo print!
The suggested age range for this trail is 2-8years old, but if you have a child who is older do not be put off, especially if they loved the Gruffalo. The trail is self-led so you can visit any time within the forest opening hours. It is also free of charge unless you would like an activity book which is £2 and includes a foraging bag, activity leaflet, colouring in sheet and Gruffalo sticker- which I think is very reasonable!
Once you have finished the Guffalo trail you can then venture onto the Discovery Trail where you will find a sculpture of the Gruffalo!
The Gruffalo Trail will be at Alice Holt until 28th February so be sure to check it out before it moves on!
Have you been on a Gruffalo Trail? What did you think?
