The fun of science for kids

26th Sep 2012

Some of you may know my mum is a teacher, she is now the head of the upper school and teaches Maths at SPS (my school when I was little) but when I was growing up she was head of science.

I loved science when I was young and I was even known to win awards at my secondary school in the subject but my interest wavered when we had to move on to physics and chemistry and the exams got harder. I loved the fun of science and I think sadly all that fun is lost is the upper years.

I remember very clearly me and my brother making kinder surprise bombs in the garden – please tell me some of you did as well!

After a few mums asking me to host science parties I have really got back in to it! I have been watching lots of fun kids science experiment videos on you tube over the last few weeks and thought I would share some of my favorites with you.

Now I have tried this at home and my results are not as good as this but I am not going to give up! I think I may need better food colouring as mine is quite thick.

Scaredy cat pepper!

Now you can’t buy Borax in the UK anymore (I’m not sure why) but if you do what to try this you can get it on ebay so I have read.

How perfect is this for Christmas!

I hope you enjoyed these and give some of them a go with the kids 🙂

Hi Asha, I know! It’s amazing. I have ordered some to play with and if it’s as good as it looks, it will be making a special appearance in my Christmas parties!
