National Doodle Day!

Doodle Day

Every week there seems to be some sort of celebration, awareness or national day, and this week is National Doodle Day! Now to me this is one of the best national days as it highlights a really important cause BUT it is so so simple to get involved! All you need is a pen and a piece of paper.

So as the weather has turned so bitterly cold, and we have FINALLY been blessed with some snow (still not enough to make a snowman), why not get your children to spend just a few minutes doodling. It could be just before bed so they can doodle about their day. Or maybe when then are sitting around the table waiting for tea or even in front of the TV. It’s a great way to get creative and really doesn’t have to take any time at all.

Many of us don’t even need a whole day dedicated to doodling as it is something we do on a regular basis. If you’re like me scraps of paper, old envelopes, the tops of newspapers and the covers of your favourite magazines will be covered in doodles. My doodling often takes place when I am on the phone or simply when I have a mind blank, and I can guarantee I will draw a box with an ‘x’ through it at some point (yes I know very boring!). As simple as a doodle may seem, apparently it is almost like a window into your mind when your attention is focused elsewhere.

Anyway! Whether you believe in doodles having meaning or not I don’t think it overly matters. National Doodle Day is to raise awareness and money for those who live with Epilepsy. By simply donating a pound to do a doodle over £295,000 has been raised to help support the 600,000 people in the UK living with epilepsy. Which is a fantastic amount! The beauty of this National Day is that it is so simple, everyone can get involved and it is for such a good cause.

So whether you chose to doodle with a pen and paper or create your online doodle for Epilepsy, have some fun creating a load of nothing! I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed my time doodling, even if it did take much longer than I anticipated – I got very into the different colours online. It also took me back to when I was younger and Paint ruled my computing world!!

We would love see what you’re children doodle about.

If you would like to do a doodle online visit this site.

Here is how mine turned out!

Stevie 🙂
