14th Apr 2014

FoodFestivalLong

I am on the Fleet & District Festival committee and we have  a fantastic new food festival for North Hampshire launching in Fleet on Sunday 25 May.

The first Fleet Food Festival is offering a huge range of activities including a tantalizing array of fresh and regional produce in the food market, tasty street food from around the world, prestigious regional chefs and master classes in the cookery theatre, inspirational food and wine talks, free family fun in the Mad Hatter Marquee, speciality real ale and fine wines and an exciting line-up of live music.

The exciting line-up of chefs and speakers includes local baker Beca Lyne-Pirkis, finalist of the Great British Bake Off last year on BBC1. Joining Beca in the cookery theatre will be Andrew Ryder, Head Chef of The Phoenix Inn, Hartley Wintney, Chef Dan Dobbs from Newlyns Farm and a Subarashii will be giving a sushi making master class. In the talks marquee, you can hear how to start your own beekeeping initiative, learn what it takes to keep chickens at home and pick up tips on fine wines from around the world with Hampshire Wine School.

Buttons is going to be hosting a Mad Hatter Family Marquee, which will be running free themed children’s crafts activities, seed planting and food science experiments throughout the day as well as hosting a Mad Hatter Hunt around the festival site.’

The festival is sponsored by Hampshire County Council and Fleet Town Council, with free parking sponsored by Hart District Council in all town centre car parks owned by the Council.

The festival will be open from 11am-5pm on the late May Bank Holiday Sunday on the town centre park ‘The Views’. The event and all activities are free for festival visitors.  For more information visit www.fleetfoodfestival.co.uk.

I hope to see you and your little ones there!!!
